Atherton Tablelands Accommodation News page for new and returning guests to see what's changed, what's happening, and what's new here at Barking Owl Retreat.
Well the monsoon trough finally brought us some dam filling rain. Sunday night and yesterday we recieved over 100mm and some parts of the Tablelands had nearly 300mm. Although we still need a lot more to fill the dams and water table everything is really nice and green.
Above is a close up of the seasonal dam near the Dingo's Lair cottage. And the picture below shows how beautiful and green the paddocks are.
Earlier in the week Cyclone Dylan took all the bad weather south of us and we enjoyed the most beautiful sunset Thursday night filling the sky with pinks and purples.

"Chilli's' puppies have all gone to fantastic homes. They are all such beautiful boys! It was very sad to see them go. 'Jaffa' our new Red Australian Cattle dog is growing fast and is now nearly six months old.
'Kato' our Tenterfield Terrier is also growing up and he is now 18 months old.
One of our recent guests got some great shots of The Mt Hypipamee Crater and Dinner Falls. These shots shown below are now on our Atherton Tablelands Attractions page.
Mt Hypipamee Crater and Dinner Falls both have walking tracks.
The two female wild Mallard ducks pictured below were walking around our house yard in the rain Sunday afternoon having a great time!
Our News page will be updated from time to time as we improve and update Barking Owl Retreat to ensure all our guests have the most enjoyable time here! Last updated 7/2/14.
