Barking Owl Retreat News

Atherton Tablelands Accommodation News page for new and returning guests to see
what's changed, what's happening, and what's new here at Barking Owl Retreat.

Female Red backed fairy wren. Brown, although still so cute! The stunning male red backed fairy wren

Well it has been awhile since the News page has been updated so firstly we opoligise for the delay. We have been quite busy in between guests and now have the end of the financial year upon us. The weather has cooled down as we are heading into winter although far warmer than that of previous years. This weekend should show some cooler weather in time for the Malanda and Atherton shows. The rain up to date has kept the paddocks green leading up to the dry season. We have obtained a new camera with the hope that we can produce some great bird photos for the birdwatching page. The female red backed fairy wren above is one of our latest bird pics. She is oh so cute! We are now on the hunt for a picture of the beautiful scarlett honey eater which has been sighted again recently. They are so quick and fly off before you can even get the camera out!

Troy and Lilly fishing in April How cute! Who says girls don't fish!

The dam hut has proven to be very popular and now being cooler the open fire place is getting plenty of use. So bring your marshmallows! The guests pictured above show that all ages can enjoy a fish and catch a Black Bream. And what a great photo of our mad keen fisher below posing for a pic! Remember to book ahead for the last public holidays for the year as the show holidays are booking fast! Christmas for 2010 is also still available at this stage.

Our News page will be updated from time to time as we improve and update Barking Owl Retreat to ensure all our guests have the most enjoyable time here! Last updated 7/7/2010. We have also added a new page with information about the Barking Owl to our website.
